Dr. Gary Sanchez is an International speaker, author, dentist, and inventor. He is best known as “Dr. WHY” for discovering the 9 WHYs, developing the WHY Discovery Tool, the WHY.os Discovery (WHY Operating System), as the Founder and CEO of the WHY Institute.

Many people talk about the power of knowing your WHY, but Dr. Sanchez took it from concept to reality to activation when he created the world’s first WHY Discovery tool to help people accurately and quickly discover their WHY in under 5 minutes. In 2021, WHY Institute launched the WHY.os Discovery which discovers your WHY, HOW, and WHAT and creates your personal brand message for you in under 10 minutes.

Dr. Sanchez is the author of the book The Power of the 9 WHYs: How People and Teams Get Clear, Stand Out and Play Bigger which helps readers deep dive into understanding who they are, strip away their mask to see their real gifts and then equip them to be themselves by living their WHY.

In this podcast, Gary and Cindra talk about:

  • The 9 Different Why’s

  • How you can create a personal brand message

  • Why people don’t take time to understand their why

High performers see stressful situations as a challenge they can overcome instead of a threat to their performance or confidence. This improves their health and their performance. They talk to themselves powerfully when experiencing stress – reminding themselves they can handle anything. They consciously choose their response.

Power Phrase this Week: “I can handle anything that comes my way. I choose a challenge mindset today!”

Quote of the Week: “With a challenge mindset, challenges are exciting rather than threatening. So rather than thinking, oh, I’m going to reveal my weaknesses, you say, wow, here’s a chance to grow.” - Carol Dweck

Are you harder on yourself than you are on others? Do you believe that the more critical of yourself, the better you will perform or more motivated you will be?

Dr. Ashley Kuchar is a former collegiate student-athlete and the founder of Fail Better Training™. As a mental performance coach, she is passionate about helping athletes (of all levels) learn how to respond to challenging situations in ways that foster resilience rather than rely on harsh criticism.

Ashley completed her PhD at The University of Texas at Austin, working alongside Dr. Kristin Neff. During her doctoral degree, Ashley developed a resilience program called RESET. She tested the 6-session program with over 250 NCAA student-athletes and found that it supported adaptive coping, well-being, and sport performance. In 2019, Ashley was one of five graduate students to receive an NCAA research grant to aid in the development of RESET (formerly "Fail Better").

In this podcast, Ashley and Cindra talk:

  • The research-supported reasons we should practice self-compassion

  • 3 components of self-compassion

  • How self-compassion is a learnable skill

  • How the best approach mistakes

  • And how to reduce your inner critic

The World’s Best choose courage instead of fear. They feel the fear, but don’t let it keep them from doing what they want to, have to, or were designed to do. High performers know that when they feel fear, it means they are doing something important and meaningful.

This Week's Power Phrase: “I embrace my fear and choose courage instead.”

This Week's Quote of the Week: Dale Carnegie said it best, “Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it…that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear.”

When we define failure on our terms, we are able to see failure as an event, not as who we are. We are able to keep pushing outsides our comfort zone because that is how we learn and grow. In this episode, Dr. Cindra shares with us how to see failure as an opportunity.

This Week’s Power Phrase: “I see failure and mistakes as opportunity to learn and grow. I take an easy-going approach when I fail."

Quote of the Week: Zig Ziglar said it best, “Failure is an event, never a person; an attitude, not an outcome; a temporary inconvenience; a stepping stone. Our response to it determines just how helpful it can be.”
