In this episode, we talk about getting clear on your own vision and then deciding the beliefs you need to adopt about yourself to make that vision happen.

Power Phrase this Week: “I think “I am…” to help me reach my goals and dreams.”

Quote of the Week: “You have the power to change your thoughts and your thoughts have the power to change your life.”— Ron Willingham

Grit has been described as the number #1 predictor of long-term success. We all need to develop our grit to be successful. To do so, you can consider what are you working towards long-term? What will take years and years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice to develop? And then, remember you will experience plenty of obstacles and setbacks – both external and internal obstacles. The key is to focus on the gains, and find an empowering meaning even in the difficulty.

Power Phrase this Week:” I am gritty. I am passionate and have a clear vision of the life I am building.”

James Robilotta is a author, professional speaker, personal coach, and entrepreneur that's trained in stand-up and improv comedy. He has been speaking professionally to willing and unwilling audiences for years and have found that quality humor — not your slapstick, dad-joke humor — is the secret to hosting powerful conversations and making a real impact.

He works with colleges, corporations, associations, and individuals with a focus on authentic leadership. He focuses on something other authors and speakers won’t touch: imperfection.

In 2015, he published his first book, Leading Imperfectly: The value of being authentic for leaders, professionals, and human beings. The concepts of authentic leadership and leading imperfectly are the driving forces behind conversations about giving/receiving feedback, rapport building, engagement, increased productivity, retention, promoting memorability, life balance, and more.

In this episode, James and Cindra discuss:

  • How to lead imperfectly
  • The values of authentic leadership
  • Where love fits in the workplace
  • And strategies to provide feedback that sticks

Today we talk about when we can be too gritty. We discuss Simone Biles, the USA gymnast, who withdrew from the Olympic All-American competition. As Simone said, our “physical health is mental health.” To ensure we are not pushing too hard, we can listen to our mind and body, care for ourselves, and engage in good self-care.

Power Phrase this Week: I listen to my body and mind in order to reach my potential.”

Most people dream too small or lose the ability to dream as they age. They let limiting beliefs get in the way, or they listen to other people’s disbelief in their goals and dreams. A key factor to keep in mind when you are setting goals is that the power of setting goals is who you can become in the process. Make connecting with your goals a daily mindset practice.

Power Phrase this Week:” “I dream big to help me reach my best and my potential.”

Quote of the Week: “Believe in your dreams and anything is possible.” Usain Bolt
