During this time of uncertainty and change, we want to focus on the controllables and watch the words we use to explain our experiences. The words we attach to our experiences becomes our experience. Replacing one word can help us shift our thinking during COVID-19. We can use words like “opportunity,” “purpose,” “mission,” “goals,” or “grounded” to stay positive and focused on what we can control.

Today’s Power Phrase:  “I choose to level up my language. I notice the words I use to describe my experiences because those words become my experience.”

“The secret to having it all is knowing you already do.” Anonymous

During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, to reduce your anxiety and fear, choose practicing gratitude each day. It is impossible to feel fear at the same time you feel gratitude. Use one of the 5 gratitude-focusing questions to help you shift your focus because your focus determines your feelings:

  1. What can I be thankful for?
  2. What’s the opportunity here?
  3. What am I happy about right now?
  4. What is going right in my life?
  5. What is awesome about my family?

It is more important than ever to train your mind each day.

My Power Phrase This Week: “I choose to intentionally practice gratitude today. I focus on what I am grateful for to reduce my fear and anxiety.”

This is a great time to use a GRIT Priming Exercise in the morning, take several deep breathes, engage in meditation, spend time with family, or focus on a new project.

Today’s Power Phrase:  “I calm my anxiety and fear. I get my mind back to the present, choosing faith over fear.”

“Fear and self-doubt have always been the greatest enemies of human potential.” Brian Tracy

High performers train their minds each day. They intentionally condition their mind to believe what they want to believe about themselves. The “I am…” phrase is the best way to condition your mind. The morning is the best time to condition your mind– you will feel more confident, motivated and on task.

Power Phrase: “I choose to see the possibilities for myself and my future. I condition my mind each day remembering I am……”.
