Our focus determines our feelings. If you want to change how you feel, you can change your focus. Your focus is like a mental spotlight. Your attention is always on something; it’s not really ever lost. You can choose to shine your focus on what helps you and gives you energy at any given moment.

This Week’s Power Phrase:  “I protect my focus. My focus determines my feelings.”

“Your success and happiness lies within you.” Helen Keller

“Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” Zig Ziglar

In this episode, Cindra talks about how having pre-planned, specific thoughts to address our limited thinking will help us develop a “million dollar mind.” The 3 P’s include thoughts that are Powerful, Possibility-Oriented and Positive.  We give ourselves a better chance of success and are most likely to reach our potential.

Powerful thoughts: I can do anything I put my mind to. I am pumped and excited to go to work/practice today!

Possibility-oriented thoughts: My future is going to be outstanding. The possibilities in my life and performance are endless.

Positive thoughts: I will crush everything on my schedule today! I will be and play the best I can today.

This week’s Power Phrase: “I choose powerful, possibility-oriented, and positive thoughts to keep me at my best.”

Don Miguel Ruiz said, “Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.”

In this episode, Dr. Kamphoff talks about the first agreement, “Be Impeccable with Your Word” of Don Miguel Ruiz’s book “The Four Agreements.” Cindra talks about how a key to be impeccable with our word is to be a silent listener to the voice in your own mind. We all have some degree of negativity. You have a choice to believe the thoughts or not when your thoughts are critical or negative about yourself. A key is to build yourself up to protect your confidence, energy and leadership.

This Week’s Power Phrase: I will talk to myself powerfully. I will avoid using my words to speak against myself or others.”

In 2002, Melissa graduated from the University of Colorado and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Two year later she deployed with the 1st Cavalry Division to Baghdad, Iraq.  On April 13, 2004, she was on a routine convoy when her HUMVEE was hit by a roadside bomb. The blast resulted in the amputation of her left leg above the knee and she became the first female to ever lose a limb in active combat.

After a year of rehab at Walter Reed Army Medical Center she was medically retired with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. She quickly adapted into a life of sports and went on to swim in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics before turning to the sport of triathlon in 2009.

She is a 3x Paratriathlon World Champion and a recent bronze medalist from the 2016 Rio Paralympics. Melissa currently travels the nation for her career as a motivational speaker and runs a prosthetics company with her husband in Colorado Springs.

Melissa is a proud above the knee amputee, a proud American and proudly lives a life of sport. She feels she has done more in her life with one leg than she ever would have done with two. Melissa is currently training with hopes of her third Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

Zig Ziglar said it best, “Failure is an event, never a person; an attitude, not an outcome; a temporary inconvenience; a stepping stone. Our response to it determines just how helpful it can be.”

In this week’s podcast, Cindra talks about how failure is inevitable and when we define failure on our terms, we are able to see failure as an event, not who we are. We are able to keep pushing outsides our comfort zone because that is how we learn and grow.

This Week’s Power Phrase: I see failure and mistakes as opportunity to learn and grow. I take an easy-going approach when I fail.
