“Adversity causes some people to break; others to break records.” William Arthur Ward
High performers see the opportunity. They know everyone experiences adversity – but it’s how they respond to it that matters. They realize they have a choice in how they respond. Then, they see the opportunity – and ask themselves ‘What’s the opportunity here’ 3 times to make sure they think like the most successful.
Power Phrase:
“I am an optimist. I see the opportunity in every difficulty.”

“A negative mind will never give you a positive life.” Unknown

“People think that focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means staying not to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully.” Steve Jobs
High performers train their focus. They know that busy doesn’t mean they are doing the most important work. They know their human nature is that you are not disciplined and nor have self-control. So, train your mind to focus on what’s most important for them given their mission and purpose. They decide to focus on one thing – put the distractions away. High performers say no so they can say yes to the most important things.
Power Phrase this Week:
I train my focus to stay lasered in on my purpose. I do what is uncomfortable not easy!

“Spend less time following other people’s lives and more time leading your own life.” Darren Hardy
High performers know that they have to protect their attention. They pay attention to what they are focused on because that impacts what they think about, what they expect, and what they create in their life. They realize their attention is their sacred gift. They make decisions related to their phone and energy suckers so they can feed their mind with positive and stay focused on their goals and dreams. They stay focused leading their own life, not sucked into others.

I get in my life what I create. I spend time leading my own life and directing my attention to my goals and dreams.

“Every morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.” Mark Twain
High performers know that being present is something we need to practice. Now is the more distracted time in our history and we must practice focusing on attention on what matters – the present. With phones and technology, we can be easily distracted and anxiety. To practice mindfulness, or staying in the present non-judgmentally, we can use a body scan – mental scan, environmental scan, or head to toe scan. This helps connect us with what’s going on right now so we can be the best we can be!
Power Phrase this Week:
"I gently bring my attention to the present moment. Letting go of all worries or regrets. Instead, empowered to reach my best right here and right now."

High performers know that confidence is a decision and a skill. It’s more important that they act in a confident way, and then the feeling of confidence come after. “When your brain says that you're done, you're only 40 percent done.” David Goggins, Navy Seal and Ultramarathoner
High performers know they have more in their reserve tank. They keep in mind the 40% rule which means they have up to 60 percent more to give. They embrace the suck, but don’t live there. They think and act like pros by welcoming and embracing the discomfort. They realize they need to stay the course, put their heads in the sand and stay gritty.

“Sometimes you have to get out of the way of yourself so you can be yourself.”
Amy Cuddy
High performers know they may experience the Impostor Syndrome. When they do, they realize they are in good company. Then, they catch the thoughts causing it. They remind themselves they are enough. They focus on the value they bring and own their successes. They remember they didn’t get lucky by chance. They reframe their limiting thoughts and remind themselves, they were meant to be here!

“You can’t climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets.” Richardo Parente
High performers find the next level by putting in the work. They realize they won’t feel great all of the time, but stick with it knowing they will feel better in a mile. They help others because they know that doing so releases positive endorphins and they generally care for others. They adjust their goals when needed – and stay focused on the process of being at their best – not the outcome.
