In this time of change and uncertainty, there are many uncontrollables including when we will get a vaccine for COVID-19 or the restrictions in place. But we are in control of our attitude. In this episode, Cindra shares how your attitude impacts how you perceive events in your life which impacts your actions and the outcome. It’s helpful to remember we do have a negativity bias, but we can counteract that negativity by choosing to not believe everything we think, talking to ourselves powerfully, and remembering to see the opportunity in every difficulty.

This week’s Power Phrase:  “I choose a good attitude regardless of what I cannot control. I talk to myself not listen.”

In this time of uncertainty around the nation, we can show compassion with others by gifting others with kindness and understanding. We can think like the world’s best by seeing adversity as happening for us, not to us. Adversity helps us grow into the person we are supposed to become to reach our goals and step into our dreams. Everything magnificent that we’ve likely accomplished required or even perhaps demanded difficulty, struggle, and grit. We can embrace adversity and believe this is a time to learn and grow.

This week's Power Phrase: “I embrace adversity. I see adversity as happening for me, not to me.”

During this time period of change and adversity, we need to protect our mind. We need to stand guard to our mind and pay attention to the meaning we are assigning to our experience. We can choose to attach a negative or a positive meaning to our experiences. When we choose a positive meaning, we are focused on how this time is a gift, how we can learn and grown, adjust as humans, and invest in ourselves. This is the high performance mindset.

Power Phrase this Week: “I control what this means to me. I find a higher meaning.”

Your emotions are data not directives, as Dr. Susan David describes. You can show up and act despite how you are feeling.

This week’s Power Phrase:  I respond with purpose and intention. I use my emotions as data.”

“Alone we are strong…together we are stronger.” Anonymous

We are all in this together. Everyone in the world is impacted by COVID-19. The key is to remember to be compassionate with others. We are all doing the best we can. To be more patient, we can put space between the stimulus and how we respond. We can do this by using the Power Pause by taking a deep breath and then saying a Power Phrase such as “I can handle anything that comes my way” or “I stay mentally strong.”

Today’s Power Phrase:  I choose to respond with purpose and intention. I can handle anything that comes my way.”

Replacing one word can help us shift our thinking during COVID-19. We can use words like “opportunity,” “purpose,” “mission,” “goals,” or “grounded” to stay positive and focused on what we can control.

Today’s Power Phrase:  “I choose to level up my language. I notice the words I use to describe my experiences because those words become my experience.”
